Ye Merrie Greenwood Players Newsletter --SPRING 2018 EDITION

It feels very odd, as it has for the past two years, just now starting to gear up for Greenwood.  This time three years ago I was dealing with vendor applications and performer contracts, and beginning to run full throttle for Greenwood and Glastonbury.  This year I thought it would be fun to have a special rehearsal to learn new-to-us  Ren dances.  I may also add another special workshop on English Country dancing later in our rehearsals.   For the Ren singers I am planning to add the full traditional version of Scarborough Faire and a lovely haunting tune called Nightingale.  There will be a work party on the weekend of May the 26-27 to put the specially designed hinges on and finish the detailing of our new walls.  That will likely be held at Eagles’crest.  Bring your screwdrivers and soft drinks.  (we may have pot luck and a bar-b-que on the front deck as well.  Watch List for details)

The 32 nd Annual Ye Merrie Greenwood Faire will be held Saturday Sept. 23 rd and Sunday Sept. 24 th in Kennewick at the East end of Columbia Park. Set-up for the Faire is all day Friday Sept. 22 nd, to which all are expected to pitch-in and help as they can. Load-outs occur Wednesday and Thursday prior and will be discussed at rehearsals and through messages prior to the event. Load-in occurs on Monday Sept. 25 th.

Rehearsals are at the Benton County PUD, corner of 10 th Avenue and Highway 395 in Kennewick, WA. Generally a Greenwood Staff Meeting proceeds each rehearsal and special group rehearsals will follow.

Special Groups will hold rehearsals outside the General Greenwood rehearsal held at the PUD and their specific Director will make the time and place known to their members. However, a few Special Groups are planning their rehearsals closely around the General Greenwood Rehearsal. These include Madrigals, and English Country.

Beyond a dream, a concept, an idea, Greenwood is people. Therefore, it is important to look for and recruit new members. If you know someone who would be an asset to the group bring them to First Rehearsal.

Workparties to prepare set-pieces and what-not for this year’s Faire, will be announced at a later date, so pay attention at rehearsals.

Information such as schedules, performance dates, rehearsal dates, meeting dates, etc. are to be found on our website, and there will be an effort to keep it current.
